January 31 work day

We worked out at East End for almost 5 hours this afternoon. We had 6 volunteers from UR, 9 from VCU ASPiRE and 6 regulars. We got most of the rest of the brush cleared along the entrance road and further in. It looks much better when coming in to the cemetery. While clearing near the road, some of the students found a small obelisk with one of the names having a death date of 1887 which predates the founding of the cemetery. This is the second oldest death date we have found. We also found many other grave markers. We created a big pile of brush by the entrance which I will let the county know to come and pick up.
