April 15 work day

We worked out at East End Cemetery for about 5 hours today. We had 18 volunteers 14 of whom were VCU sociology students. We cleared several plots and founds lots of grave markers, hauled brush and hauled trash but got no maintenance done and so the weeds got taller.

One of our regular volunteers found a gravestone and when he went to get it out of the ground, he found another under it. There turned out to be 5 gravestones or parts of gravestones stacked one upon the other. Here is a picture of the 5 stones that pulled out of the hole.
